Vivian Coleman, PLA, AICP founded Vivid Earth Design, PLLC in April 2021 after a 30+ year career in public service focused on building more walkable, bikeable, and livable communities for all ages and abilities.  Vivid Earth Design strives to advance quality, built environments including planning & design of the public realm - streets, greenways & trails, parks, and placemaking experiences.  

Vivid Earth Design is an approved SBE with the City of Charlotte, SPSF/SBE with the NC Department of Transportation, and is certified as a Historically Underutilized Business with the NC Statewide Uniform Certification Program. 

Consulting services are offered in multi-modal planning and design, including public outreach; placemaking; curb lane management, landscape design, wayfinding, Safe Routes to School, and visual art.

The firm’s owner has established a proven record of project and program management.  The owner managed many projects and programs managed during her 18-year tenure at the Charlotte Department of Transportation including:
